GETTING OUT OF THE GARAGE AND BACK ON THE WATER

There's nothing more frustrating than when you hit the "GO Button", expecting to hear that sweet two-stroke sound and then...

Click, click, click!

Or worst still, CLUNK!!

Or worst again, nothing at all!!!

Well, before you start replacing every part you can get your hands on, have a quick read below to isolate and troubleshoot the problem.

This will give you a much better chance of diagnosing the issue and hopefully get you back out on the water without too much hassle. So, you can spend more time with friends, perfecting your riding style and enjoying your watercraft for what its meant for... FUN!

ENGINE WILL NOT START

Engine will NOT turn over:

  • Engine starter interlock switch positioned to left
  • Battery voltage low
  • Battery connections loose
  • Water inside engine

Engine WILL turn over:

  • Fuel tank low
  • Misuse of choke
  • Pressure in fuel tank
  • Fuel filter screens clogged
  • Fuel vent line or check valve clogged
  • Exhaust fume leak

ENGINE MISFIRES, RUNS ROUGH

Weak Spark:

  • Fouled or worn spark plug
  • Spark plug connector loose

Lean Fuel Mixture:

  • Fuel tank low
  • Carb. mixture screws misadjusted
  • Fuel filter screens clogged
  • Fuel vent line or check valve clogged

Rich fuel mixture (Heavy Fuel Consumption):

  • Misuse of choke
  • Carb. mixture screws misadjusted
  • Flame arrester clogged
  • Pressure in fuel tank

ENGINE STARTS, BUT STOPS AGAIN

  • Fuel tank low
  • Misuse of choke
  • Pressure in fuel tank
  • Fuel filter screens clogged
  • Fuel vent line or check valve clogged
  • Exhaust fume leak

GAS KNOCK "PINGING"

  • Poor quality gasoline
  • Incorrect gas/oil mixture
  • Spark plug heat range too high

STEERING HARD OR ERRATIC

  • No lubricant on steering pivot
  • Steering cable damaged or Improperly routed

ENGINE POWER LOW

  • Check items under "misfires." plus:
  • Throttle valve adjustment incorrect
  • Exhaust system clogged
  • Water in gasoline

ENGINE OVERHEATING

  • Weeds or debris in jet pump
  • Coolant line clogged
  • Carb. mixture screws misadjusted
  • Incorrect gas/oil mixture
  • Incorrect type of gas or oil
